The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy director Kazutaka Kodaka has recently teased possibilities of future DLC that could introduce additional routes and endings, provided the game sells well enough for additional development. Kodaka, who wrote The Hundred Line’s “true route,” said he will be personally taking on the role of scenario writer for the future DLC, and that he already has a few different ideas in mind. In response to inquiries by fans, he also mentioned that he would like to invite other famous game writers to work on additional routes as well.

Considering Too Kyo Games’ precarious financial position, a lot of us were anxious about what the studio’s next move after releasing The Hundred Line would be, and to that, Kodaka has confidently answered with “more content.” Rather than just moving on, the development team seems determined to keep on expanding their new IP, as well as the in-game universe they’ve created. “I want Hundred Line to be like Shonen Jump – a single game packed with all kinds of stories. Massive in volume, with each story feeling like its own world,” Kodaka explained on his X account.
The Hundred Line started as quite a financially risky project, with the developers going in debt to make the 60-novels-long script and 100 endings a reality. However, if it makes enough money, the project seems like it will reach a whole new level of ambitious. “I want to expand the story of Hundred Line and create an overwhelmingly huge labyrinth of scenarios. Something truly unique,” he says in another one of his X posts. The possibilities for new scenarios are endless, he adds, and it doesn’t stop there – the team may also add some new features to the battles as well.
In September this year, Kodaka will be visiting Spain for the Japan Weekend Madrid convention. Fans have noticed that, coincidentally, Ryukishi07, creator of When They Cry visual novel series, will also be there – encouraging Kodaka to ask him to write a DLC route for The Hundred Line. Kodaka replied that he would love to collaborate with other writers in the future, that is, if enough funding is secured. However, he reassures the fans that all the profits from the game will be poured right back into making more games and expanding The Hundred Line’s universe.
